Give'r for Liver is the marathon walking program for the Canadian Liver Foundation. Destinations this year include Kauai, Hawaii on September 5 and Dublin, Ireland on October 25. Fighting liver disease....one kilometer at a time.
The registration fee is $500 and can be paid on your donation page or by submitting payment to your local chapter.
Participants are required to raise a minimum of $6,000 to support liver health education and research programs of the Canadian Liver Foundation.
The liver is a resilient, maintenance-free organ that's easy to ignore - until something goes wrong. Because of its wide-ranging responsibilities, the liver often comes under attack by viruses, toxic substances (including alcohol), contaminants and disease.
Often, people with liver problems will be completely unaware because they may have few, if any, symptoms. The liver is such a stalwart organ that it will continue working even when two thirds of it has been damaged by scarring (cirrhosis).
