As the need for help in our community has grown, so has
The Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter.
The Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter is now one of the largest organizations in Canada for women, children, youth and men hurt by family violence.
Though the Shelter remains the cornerstone of the organization, it is now only one of many free programs offered to stop family violence in our community.
The
Family Violence Helpline is open 24 hours for anyone who has questions about family violence or for anyone who needs counselling and support.
In addition to the Shelter, each year they serve thousands of women, children, youth and men through a number of innovative programs.
Nearly 60 per cent of their funding comes from non-governmental sources. Volunteers contribute over seven thousand hours each year providing a wide variety of services to our clients.
